As the sun sets, it’s time for a drink with a view and a breath of fresh air. Hong Kong has no shortage of al fresco dining spaces and rooftop venues. So, it’s all about finding the one with the right vibe. Think good food, refreshing cocktails, and sweeping views of the city. Live music is a bonus. So, where can you find all if not most of these? Well, you’ve come to the right place. See our top picks of the best outdoor bars in Hong Kong.
Other than the pleasant company and, perhaps, a scrummy side of snacks, we’re partial to a saucer’s worth of green olives ourselves. But what complements a beautifully shaken cocktail more than a treat for the eyes? Hong Kong’s stunning views of course! Whether it’s the familiar Victoria Harbour skyline, the sparkling cityscape skyscraper, or lives being lived, we’re saying yes to all of them. Of course, these places are best with a tipple in hand, in true alfresco style. In true ‘it’s-5 pm-somewhere’-style, here’s a handy little list of our favourite outdoor bars in Hong Kong — just in case you wanted that sundowner with a sunset.

Terrible Baby
View this post on Instagram
How can you not want to patronise a bar named ‘Terrible Baby’? Impossible. This tongue-in-cheek name is a direct translation from the French term ‘l’enfant terrible’. It can either stand literally or at the behest of overwhelmed babysitters. Or figuratively, most commonly used in the creative industries to describe a bold, striking personality. It’s a trendsetter, of the avant-garde kind. This connection to art is held sacred, especially considering the bar’s location in the Eaton Hotel, as well as the live music room immediately adjacent.
Stop by if you’re a fan of creative cocktails; their Double Truffle Fries (HK$95) are pretty phenomenal, too. Should you partake in shisha, the outdoor terrace garden offers a lush session.
What we’d order: Crybaby (HKD 90)

La Rambla by Catalunya
View this post on Instagram
There is a reason we all falter towards the ifc rooftop; the view — an unadulterated study of the Victoria Harbour skyline — is just so good. Occupying the space Isola previously held, La Rambla by Catalunya is a homage to the dynamic tree-lined boulevard in Barcelona; a street once described by Spanish poet Federico García Lorca as ‘the only street in the world which [he wishes] would never end.’ Wash down scrumptious Spanish tapas with a pitcher of sangria. Salud!
What we’d order: Sangria Catalunya (HKD 120)

Wooloomooloo Steakhouse
View this post on Instagram
You’d most likely come to Wooloomooloo for their Australian grass-fed filet mignons, with a side of stunning 270-degree city view stretching across Wanchai, Happy Valley and the fringes of the Victoria Harbour. Or, the creamy spinach. Yum. Whether you’d prefer a glass of red with a Parma-ham wrapped Beef Wellington or a sundowner — an Aperol Spritz, perhaps? — with sunset, Wooloomooloo raises the stakes (or, the steaks) in more ways than one.
What we’d order: Perfect Ten (HKD 150)

ICHU Terraza

A Peruvian escape? Yes, please. ICHU Terraza — the outdoor terrace extending from the main dining room — is said to be inspired by the mountainous terrain of the South American country. It’s a lush space, surrounded by foliage and verdant and greenery; a true Amazonian hideaway in the heart of Central.
What we’d order: ICHU Pisco Sour (HKD 120)

Duddell’s
View this post on Instagram
It’s always a good time at Duddell’s. Just off Queen’s Road Central, the Michelin-starred restaurant is not just so; it also acts as a private members club, a lounge and an art gallery — currently on exhibit is the ‘Curve of Buoyancy‘ group show. The timber-decked garden terrace juts out from the level-four Salon; a quiet respite smack-dab in the heart of the action.
What we’d order: Flower Power (HKD 140)

Portico
View this post on Instagram
Stepping off of Chef Enrico Bartolini’s first Hong Kong outpost Spiga, Portico is a beautiful spot in the centre of town; a garden-like oasis perfectly situated for pre- and post-dinner apéritifs. Expansive patio sun loungers — cushioned and cosy — decorate the terrace in stark contrast to the sleek, cinematic ambience of Spiga; here, it’s warmth, relaxation and really good tipples.
What we’d order: Portico Blues (HKD 118)

SKYE
View this post on Instagram
What we love about SKYE is the option of drinking (and dining) both indoors and outdoors. Its outdoor oasis boasts an electrifying view of Hong Kong’s skyline, complete with Victoria Park and Victoria Harbour. Of course, it’s the best outside but you can also totally enjoy that inside. We love the choice of having both! The signature illuminated oblong bar is also one of its main highlights and where all the creative cocktails are made. Order, watch, and then drink, all in awe. Make sure to try the contemporary French cuisine they offer as well.
What we’d order: French 57 (HKD 160)

Cruise
View this post on Instagram
For a different view of Hong Kong, we go to Cruise. This rooftop restaurant and bar has an outdoor terrace that overlooks Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour but from a different vantage point. Plus, they serve equally amazing Asian food with a lot of varieties. Occasionally, Cruise also holds events. Sip on delicious cocktails while soaking up the nice view. Oh, Cruise also practices ethical sourcing as much as possible, while working closely with farms for their ingredients. What’s not to love?
What we’d order: Gai Dan Jaai Old Fashion (HKD 118)

Ozone
View this post on Instagram
Being the highest rooftop bar in Hong Kong, how can you say no to Ozone? Sure, it can be a little terrifying at first but once you get the hang of it, it’ll be an experience like no other. The outdoor space may not be as spacious but you have all you need: sweeping views of Hong Kong, small plates, and inventive cocktails. Sometimes, even with the soundtrack of a live DJ. It’s the spot to enjoy the twinkling views of the city with a drink at hand.
What we’d order: Any of the Five Elements cocktails (HKD 208)
