WhistlePig releases new 25 year old Badönkådonk single malt whisky

WhistlePig moves from its good old American rye offerings and into scotch for its newest batch of whisky.

This is WhistlePig’s crowning glory in its collection of super-aged North American Single Malt — the Badönkådonk. The liquid is a North American single malt from Canada that’s been aged in American Oak for 25 years. It then spent the remainder of its life in cabernet sauvignon barrels from Silver Oak Cellars in Alexander Valley, California. This wine barrel finishing lends notes of “stone fruits, cedar wood, and transcendental tastiness,” according to WhistlePig.

The super-aged single malt product comes a year after its last 21 year-old The Béhôlden release which saw just eighteen barrels produced. As part of WhistlePig’s description, the distillery jokingly calls this release part of its grail quest, while at the same time proving that great single malt can be made in North America.

Bottled at 45.5% ABV, WhistlePig’s new super-aged Badönkådonk Single Malt Aged 25 Years is available in limited quantity for a price of $1999.99 USD for a 750ml bottle. For those curious about the Vermont-based distillery, head over to the WhistlePig website to learn more.

For more whisky news, The Macallan is hosting a mobile bar at The Lobster Bar.
