Behind Mrs. H’s Coffee House, a neighbourhood cafe, lies The Holywell’s, an English residence-themed speakeasy. The concept is the brainchild of founders Andrew Mak and Richard Tam, drawing inspiration from their home in the suburban town of St. Alban’s. The matriarch of the house runs the cafe during daylight. And when the sun goes down, the ‘family home’ becomes a speakeasy. The menu references a children’s book of illustrations, complete with family recipes. They are, of course, special cocktails and mocktails that pay homage to British flavours and culture.

Avoca, the cocktail bar at Mondrian Hong Kong, is a new addition to Kowloon’s evolving bar scene. It comes with DJ performances, creative comfort food, innovative drinks and of course, views of Victoria Harbour. There is also a rooftop space on the 40th floor to host cultural events, community gatherings, and artistic performances. The menu is divided into small plates, “in-between” bites, big dishes, and desserts. For a bar, there are definitely a lot of food options.
