More sporting events in the city
Back in February, Lionel Messi visited Hong Kong with Inter Miami for a friendly match with the Hong Kong football team. However, Messi didn’t take to the pitch in the end with organisers having to issue refunds following outrage from fans.
Despite this, more sporting events are planned in Hong Kong. Pui Kwan-kay, the chairman of the Hong Kong Football Association briefly mentioned that there are plans to have Ronaldo’s current club, Al-Nassar play in Hong Kong. He hopes the match will be one of the celebratory events for the opening of the new Kai Tak Sports Park.
Furthermore, the annual Rugby Sevens will also return to Hong Kong in April 2025 at the new Kai Tak Sports Park. Now, Cristiano Ronaldo’s visit to Hong Kong may be the next big sporting event to look forward to.
