20 January 2017: Cardi B and Offset release ‘Lick’, their first song together
Possibly the first big event leading up to their relationship, Cardi B and Offset dropped their first collaboration, ‘Lick‘, in January 2017. This track was part of Cardi’s mixtape, Gangsta B*tch Music, Vol. 2. It’s likely that the duo first met in 2016 while working on this song together.
5 February 2017: The pair go on their first date at Super Bowl LI
In a 2018 interview of the Migos band members with Rolling Stone, Offset confessed that after watching Cardi rise as an artist, he had a publicist set up a dinner in New York with a group of women, including the ‘Bodak Yellow’ rapper, in early 2017. “I was like, ‘Damn, I am on her!’ ” he said. “I am like, ‘S–t, I like Cardi B!’”
However, the couple made their first public outing together holding hands during Super Bowl 2017 and Cardi was later seen in a live video that Offset streamed, which fans quickly shared.

In a March 2017 interview with The Fader, Cardi B shut down the relationship rumours with Offset and said, “I’m not saying I’m dating an Atlanta guy.” She refused to offer any further clarification on the speculations and said that their collaboration on ‘Lick’ was pretty friendly and professional.

27 October 2017: Offset publicly proposes to Cardi B at a concert in Philadelphia
In a stunning moment at Power 99’s Powerhouse event, the Migos rapper went down on one knee with a sparkling ring in hand and asked Cardi to marry him. January 2018: Cardi B addresses rumours of Offset cheating
At the beginning of 2018, Offset found himself in hot water over allegations that he not only cheated but also filmed a sex tape with multiple women. Despite the cheating rumours, there seemed to be no tension between the two. In fact, Offset declared his love for the ‘Drip’ singer by getting her name tattooed on his neck. In an Instagram video posted on The Shade Room, fans can see Cardi’s hand pushing the rapper’s hair aside to reveal his new tattoo. This confirmed that things were fine between the two.

26 June 2018: Cardi and Offset host a baby shower
In June 2018, Cardi and Offset threw a lavish baby shower to celebrate their yet-to-be-born baby girl in Atlanta. The event was themed ‘Bardi Shower: A Bronx Fairytale’.

9 October 2018: Cardi B again addresses cheating rumours
In an interview with W, Cardi expressed, “When I got married… we still had doubts. He was always traveling; I was always traveling. We’re artists… He’s known for having different women; I’m known for not taking sh*t from guys. But we really loved each other, and we was scared to lose each other. (sic)”
29 November 2018: Offset teases a possible collab album with Cardi
In a conversation with The New York Times, Offset suggested that he and his wife Cardi might be working on a collaborative album, similar to what Beyoncé and Jay-Z have done. “I have no distractions,” he mentioned. “And me and her? We haven’t even dropped an album yet. That’s a whole other realm.”
He also expressed that marrying Cardi was “the best thing that’s happened” to him. He further added, “I’d seen her potential, her vision, her grind. Whatever she does, she’s going to master it. She’s like me.”
5 December 2018: Cardi announces her separation from Offset
Cardi B took to Instagram to share a heartfelt video announcing her separation from Offset after a challenging journey together.
“We have a lot of love for each other, but things just haven’t been working out for a while,” she explained.
She added, “It’s nobody’s fault; I guess we just grew apart, but we are no longer together. The divorce process might take some time, but I will always have love for him because he is the father of my daughter.”

15 December 2018: Offset makes a bold move to win Cardi back publicly
Just a day after celebrating his 27th birthday, Offset returned to social media to once again address their relationship, this time offering a sincere apology to Cardi.
He shared in an Instagram video, “I only have one birthday wish, and that’s to get my wife back.” He expressed regret for “breaking your heart, breaking our promise, breaking God’s promise and being a selfish, messed-up husband.” Emphasising his desire to not give up, he added “I wanna be able to spend the rest of my life with you.”
His public plea escalated when he unexpectedly joined Cardi on stage during her performance at Rolling Loud in Los Angeles, bringing a stunning bouquet that read “TAKE ME BACK, CARDI.” Unfortunately, the gesture didn’t sit well, and he and his flowers were discreetly escorted off the stage.
16 December 2018: Cardi and Offset address what went wrong
In a series of now-deleted Instagram videos, Cardi expressed her gratitude to fans for their support but kindly asked them to refrain from leaving negative comments about Offset online. “Violating my baby father is not going to make me feel any better, because at the end of the day, that’s still family (sic),” she stated.
“I’m not saying that I’m gonna get back together with him,” Cardi clarified. “I just don’t like that bashing online thing.”

Cardi B and Offset decided to give their marriage another shot after splitting up. TMZ reported that Cardi returned to their Atlanta home for the first time since their split the previous month. She even shared a FaceTime screenshot of Offset kissing their daughter Kulture, captioning it, “I wanna go home.” The report also noted that Offset had changed his phone number and was sticking to a “no groupies” policy to prove his commitment.

10 February 2019: They walk the 2019 Grammys red carpet together
In February, the couple made a grand appearance on the red carpet of the 61st Grammy Awards. The occasion was even more special as Cardi was nominated in five categories, including Album of the Year. The ‘Please Me’ crooner officially filed for divorce from Offset after three years of marriage. She took this step at an Atlanta courthouse, reportedly due to Offset’s repeated infidelity, just five days after their third anniversary.
A few days later, on 18 September, Cardi went live on Instagram to clarify her reasons for the split. She stated, “The reason for my divorce is not because of none of that s–t that ever happened before. It’s not because of cheating,” she said on Instagram Live. “I’m seeing people be like, ‘Oh, he has a baby on the way.’ That’s a whole f–king complete lie. 10 October 2020: Cardi B and Offset are spotted kissing at her birthday party

September 2021: A second baby on board

Cardi opened up about how she’s been supporting Offset after Takeoff’s passing. In a voice note on Twitter, she expressed, “We living our life normally, but deep down inside our hearts have been so heavy. I feel like if I talk about the incident so desensitized, I feel like if we talk about how we really feel, y’all will start saying, ‘Oh, sympathy. Oh sympathy.’ And we don’t want no sympathy. 17 Jan 2023: Cardi B talks about reconciling her relationship with Offset
In early 2023, Cardi B stopped by the premiere of The Jason Lee Show and divulged her relationship with Offset and how they worked through a rough patch in their marriage.
“Me and Offset, we was not seeing eye to eye. This was, like, the same year that I filed for divorce and everything,” she revealed to her friend and host Lee.

31 July 2024: Cardi B files for divorce a second time
In what seems like the end of Cardi B and Offset’s relationship, a spokesperson for the former verified to PEOPLE that the rapper submitted a second divorce filing against Offset on 31 July. The initial report of this development was made by Page Six.
“It’s not based on cheating rumours, but rather has been a long time coming,” the rep said. Cardi was seeking primary custody of their two children, Kulture and Wave.
1 August 2024: Cardi and Offset announce they are expecting baby no. 3
Just one day after filing for divorce, Cardi B announced that she’s expecting her third child with Offset, another major milestone in their relationship.
