The Together Issue
In our second digital cover this month of celebrating returning icons on set, we’re bringing back the hottest power couple in town: Scha Alyahya and Awal Ashaari. Adorned with Chopard’s Ice Cube jewellery (and various dazzling pieces from the House), the pair embody the strong and unbreakable bonds that make up the collection. Reflecting on how far the couple have come in their careers — both together and individually — Scha and Awal open up about having been in the entertainment industry for as long as they have, and how they continue to navigate the waters today.
On The Cover: Scha Alyahya & Awal Ashaari
We last spoke with the nation’s It Couple two years ago, back when they were celebrating their tenth anniversary together. On His Decades-Long Career
“It has come to a point where you’ve kind of done almost everything, and you have ticked the things on your wish list that you once wished that you had the opportunity of doing. So at this age, you rasa macam been there, done that. The thrill, and the challenge is not as it was 10 or 15 years ago when you were so eager to do everything. It’s no longer about us, or what we want to achieve or what we want to do next. It’s about raising our kids and making sure that they’re comfortable. How to give the best education, and the best life that we want them to live.”

Opposites Attract
“We know how to encourage each other’s strengths,” Scha says. “We share a common path together. Like he said earlier, he’s quite dominant. I pun dominant. But then I rasa it’s the flexibility that we have with each other. You know, kadang-kadang I’ll just take a step back and I’ll let him, you know, decide. And then he’ll be like, ‘Oh, kalau this one, it’s your forte. So I’ll let you decide.’ That’s how we find our…”
“Our common ground,” Awal finishes. “I believe we have so much respect towards each other. I do have a lot of respect for her career and her minat, you know? I’ve never told her not to do something or just brush off whatever decisions that she wants to make. It’s always up to her. And the same goes for me. We encourage each other.”

A Life in the Spotlight
“I’m an introvert, you know? Like, I can’t believe I am a celebrity, because I don’t really talk much. I read somewhere that I can come across as someone who’s very aloof, like I seem detached. And it’s not like that. I just don’t like the attention. I don’t like the special treatment and all. But I don’t have any regrets. I’m happy. It’s not that I wanna run away from my life. I’m committed. Maybe it’s also because I rasa macam I really struggled. People don’t know that I struggled. Like, before I pergi kerja, I would cry. But that was a long time ago. Now I’m used to it. I’m happy. I just do it less.”
