Why you’ll want to call Rosewood Residences Hong Kong your new home

The Rosewood Hong Kong swung open its doors last March to a staggering amount of fanfare, welcoming high profile guests and celebrities throughout Hong Kong’s biggest art week during Art Basel 2019. The festivities cemented the hotel’s flagship here in Hong Kong as the city’s new beacon of luxury hospitality — simultaneously directing all eyes to a stylish new face of Kowloon. Now, those wishing for an extended stay at the property can do so at the Rosewood Residences, currently open for booking.

Within the stately 65-storey tower designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates are 186 luxury accommodations ranging from supreme studios to expansive three-bedroom duplexes. The Rosewood hotel and residence complex is described as a ‘vertical estate’ — built with the legacy of its owners in mind. Rosewood is headed up by CEO Sonia Cheng, and everywhere you look, the design touches pay homage to the tastes and accomplishments spanning three generations of the Cheng family.

From the majestic uphill drive that sweeps you to the main entrance, to the impressive height of the ceilings; the Art Deco marble floors to the handpicked display of the family art collection (the Bharti Kher sculpture of an elephant in the hotel lobby is not to be missed) — Rosewood Residences incorporates a regal, estate-like design vocabulary throughout the property. Designed by New York-based Tony Chi of tonychi studio, the spaces were designed to give off the sense of a storied family manor rather than a luxury hotel.

Setting the tone for longer stays, guests of Rosewood Residences will get their own exclusive entrance, and semi-private lift access to all one-bedroom units and above. There’s also a private club on the 53rd floor dedicated to fitness and wellbeing, with an indoor heated swimming pool that’s only available to long-stay residents.

No matter if you’re staying in a studio or duplex, you’ll find all the necessities of home: Each unit is fitted with a fully-equipped kitchenette with a refrigerator, microwave combination oven, induction hob, premium cookware and kitchen utensils. Some units also offer dishwasher and washer-dryer combinations. Ranging from 474 sq. ft. to 2,476 sq. ft. for the largest unit, some suites also include outdoor terraces — adding a touch of refinement to some, but also a welcome necessity for households with four-legged friends (indeed, the entire property is pet-friendly!).

For the most finicky residents, rest assured you’ll be well taken care of by the 24-hour concierge, laundry and in-room dining. For those occasions that require elevated white-glove service, there are also butlers at your disposal, whether you seek a special delivery or are planning to host an elegant dinner gathering.

Rosewood Residences - study
The study area is bathed in daylight whilst overlooking the harbour — your new wellspring of inspiration perhaps?

But with eight lofty dining options at your doorstep, you might want to save the in-room dining for a different day. There’s refined Shunde cuisine at The Legacy House, harking back to the ancestral roots of the Cheng family. There’s elevated cha chaan teng fare at Holt’s Cafe, and afternoon tea and sweets at The Butterfly Room and Butterfly Patisserie. After sundown, you won’t want to skip DarkSide, an intimate jazz lounge perfect for a nightcap, featuring a library of aged dark spirits and cocktails served with an array of esoteric chocolates.

Comfort, luxury and an elegant way of living surrounds you even outside of your apartments: like an expansive mansion estate, the gardens and terraces on multiple levels throughout the Rosewood grounds give the feeling of secret corners waiting to be discovered. And of course, who can dismiss the view: peerless harbour views overlooking the heart of Hong Kong, as well as the vibrant new arts and culture district Victoria Dockside, putting the upcoming Hong Kong Arts Museum, the K11 Musea mall and the longstanding Cultural Centre just a stone’s throw away. Just steps away from the MTR and just five minutes to the Star Ferry — the rest of Hong Kong is at your feet.
