Coming off the high of the ‘HIIT & SIP’ event earlier in October, The LSA Club are back at it with a brand-new event, under the theme “Stand Up Spooks” – for those who want to celebrate halloween but would rather suffocate of laughter than terror. The event was held on October 30, 2024 at Opium Bar Bangkok, in partnership with Restaurant Potong, Opium Bar, and Penfolds.
T’was the night before Halloween, when guests arrived with bated breath and anticipation towards the “halloween with a twist” concept that The LSA Club had presented them. As they waited for the elevator to arrive to take them up to Opium Bar, they were greeted with a glass of Opium Elixir – a refreshing cocktail comprising of gin, chrysanthemum, banana, and rice. Upon exiting the elevator, guests were greeted with delicious appetisers courtesy of Restaurant Potong in addition to a free-flow of Penfolds wine and Singha Reserve beer.
Once the attendees were settled in, a representative from The LSA Club walked them through what The LSA Club stands for – a primary hub for expats and Thai internationals to forge new connections and form relationships that will allow for more opportunities to pour into their lives and help them navigate the complexities of life and business in Thailand – the evening was going to be about, which at its core is to celebrate halloween with laughs as opposed to screams. This was followed by the first hour of standup comedy, led by Boston-born comedian, Jonathan Samson. There was not a dry eye in sight as Samson left guests on the verge of crying from laughter before passing over the set to the next comedian, Deniz B. Turan.
Restaurant Potong provided guests with a delicious main course for dinner during the intermission so that they could be properly fuelled to continue laughing throughout the night.
The final two acts of the evening were performed by Detroit superstar, Mike Eshaq, and Filipino sensation, Pule Mapacpac. With the energy at an all time high, attendees participated in some fun games to conclude the evening. You’ve heard of Two Truths and a Lie and Never Have I Ever, but to fan the competitive flames, the guests at Stand Up Spooks took part in Three Truths and a Lie and Never Have I Ever (Haunted Edition).

It was a halloween eve that was a resounding success with no dead air (or the dead) in sight.
