Dr. Wit Sittivaekin on 5 things to invest for a better life

In this exclusive interview, LSA catches up with Dr. Wit Sittivaekin, our cover star for this month’s digital issue. Sitting comfortably on a brown KUKA lounge chair and ottoman from the KANELA collection, imported by Boonthavorn LIFESTYLE furniture, let’s find out what valuable life lesson he has to offer.

When we think of the middle-aged population, particularly those in their 50s, we often view them as unrelatable. However, some individuals defy this stereotype, staying young at heart through their exceptional ability to communicate and connect with younger generations. It’s even gotten to the point where many millennials, Gen Y, and Gen Z look up to them as role models. And one person, in particular, is Dr. Wit Sittivaekin, also known to Thai youths as “Hia Wit.”

Besides earning dual degrees in Political Theory and Industrial Relations & Personnel Management from the London School of Economics, Dr. Wit can also speak 5 different languages. His insatiable thirst for knowledge, deep interest in history, and exceptional speaking skills enable him to break down complex topics into easily understandable concepts, captivating even those who may initially be uninterested in learning. As a result, he has become a role model for many of the younger generations, inspiring them to embrace new experiences and knowledge. “By accumulating new knowledge day by day, we can eventually use them to create a better life for ourselves.”

Invest in time

“Many people argue that human lives are marked by inequality. However, one thing that remains the same for everyone is that we all have 24 hours in a day. By managing our time effectively and establishing a routine, we can make use of those 24 hours to help us grow and stand out from others.”

Invest in learning

“We often find ourselves in situations we would rather avoid. However, if we adopt a mindset focused on learning, even from these challenging experiences, we can gradually accumulate valuable insights to significantly enhance our lives later on.”

Invest in discipline

“To achieve freedom and independence, it’s important to recognise that there will be times when we need to do things we don’t want to do and refrain from doing things we desire. For instance, if we set a goal to swim against the current, our commitment will drive us to persevere toward that objective.”

Invest in communication

“Mastering the art of communication is essential. When I encourage you to invest in this skill, I’m not referring to speaking in seminars; I mean the everyday exchanges of small talk. Developing strong communication skills, whether in front of a large audience or in intimate conversations, can greatly increase your value.”

Invest in good amenities

“All of the things I’ve just listed cannot happen if we do not maintain a good quality of life. A key aspect that plays a major role in this is furniture, and the brand KUKA Home presented by Boonthavorn LIFESTYLE furniture does this well. Having been in the industry for over 40 years, KUKA Home is recognised as the number one manufacturer from China. Their commitment to quality and craftsmanship is evident in every piece, produced by world-class designers from England, the United States, Italy, France, Germany, and beyond.”

“With a meticulous design process that involves colour experts, premium materials, and more, along with their accumulated experience, KUKA Home’s products are crafted to elevate any living space. I truly believe that happiness begins at home, especially one’s quality of life, so investing in well made furniture is a necessity.”
