The sound of Bugatti‘s next powertrain has been revealed.
Set for the successor of the Bugatti Chiron, and replacing the hypercar’s 8.0L W16, a new V16 hybrid engine has been in the works for some time. This new powertrain is not what one would expect in the age where the words “economical” and “electric” are often used in the same sentence as “hybrid.”
Staying true to Bugatti’s line, “IF COMPARABLE, IT IS NO LONGER BUGATTI,” this new engine is a massive V16 hybrid engine that’s covered in carbon fiber. There are no technical numbers just yet, but the sound is pure bliss, and if you factor in Bugatti’s history of upping the bar, the Bugatti V16 will most likely see increased numbers from the 8.0L W16, with horsepower numbers in the thousands.
Bugatti announced the teaser with the quote:
In June, the modern-day lineage of Bugatti – first established with the Veyron 16.4 – will welcome its latest evolution; a new automotive pinnacle with a V16 hybrid powertrain at its heart. Incomparable in every detail, it is a pure embodiment of Bugatti’s DNA, created not just for the present, or even the future – but “Pour l’éternité”.
Some keys figured of the Bugatti Chiron can also be found below:
