Nothing updates its Ear lineup with ChatGPT integrations

Nothing has officially unveiled its next-gen earbuds dubbed the Ear and Ear (a). The company simultaneously announced that it will upgrade its UX with industry-first ChatGPT integrations across its audio and smartphone products.

Instead of continuing with the number progression from Ear (1) and (2), the brand has decided to strip back the numbers to centre the focus on user experience. The Ear is built for audiophiles while the Ear (a) values comfort and utility for everyday use.

Industry-first ChatGPT integrations improve the overall experience through system-level entry points. New functions include pinch-to-speak from the Nothing phones, screenshot sharing, and Nothing-style widgets.

“By integrating ChatGPT with Nothing earbuds, including the new Nothing Ear and Ear (a), and with Nothing OS, we’ve taken our first steps towards change, and there’s more to come,” said Carl Pei, CEO and Co-Founder of Nothing. “As always, we look forward to feedback from our community.”

While keeping its signature transparent design language, the Ear introduces a number of improvements to deliver its best-ever audio experience yet. The new Nothing Ear arrives with an improved dual chamber design with additional vents for improved airflow and clearer sound. A custom 11 mm dynamic driver featuring a ceramic diaphragm further provides overall richness and crisper highs.

LHDC 5.0 and LDAC codec formats are now accepted for high-resolution streaming over Bluetooth and Nothing’s in-app Advanced Equaliser adds new customisation options such as Q Factor and frequency control. Other standout features include three ANC cancellation levels and a larger battery with a 25% improvement in battery life.

The Ear (a) features an all-new bubble design, sliding easily into the pocket, and comes in a vivid yellow, the first time Nothing has introduced a product in a hue other than black and white. Ear (a) carries over many of the same features fitted on the Ear as well as a new dual chamber driver, 500mAh battery offering 42.5 hours of music playback, and duo device connectivity.

The Nothing Ear and Ear (a) are now available online for £129 and £99 GBP respectively (approximately $960 and $1,250 HKD). Head over to the Nothing website for more details.
