A possible release date for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 might have just been leaked.
In a press release for the upcoming launch of AI Shark, previously known as GameShark, audio company Altec Lansing writes that the launch date “is planned to coincide with the Nintendo Switch 2 in September 2024.” The leak follows months of rumours and speculation that Nintendo will be releasing a follow-up to its Switch console in 2024.
Since the leak was first spotted by Digital Trends, Altec Lansing has backtracked on its statement, responding to the media company stating that the tentative launch is “Fall 2024.” It later backtracked again and stated that “Nintendo has not officially clarified launch.” Meanwhile, Jason Schreier from Bloomberg stated on X that an AI Shark insider told him “they’re just guessing about the next Nintendo console’s release date,” contradicting the company’s statements to Digital Trends.

Nintendo has not responded or released any statements regarding the leak, nor have they revealed anything about the Nintendo Switch 2 (or whether that will even be its official name) through its channels. AI Shark is not associated with the game company, so take the date with a grain of salt.
What is AI Shark?
AI Shark is a rebranding of GameShark, which some might remember for its cheat code cartridges back in the day. The new software isn’t meant for cheating, though. Instead, AI Shark aims to assist beginner-level users and casual players “in improving their gameplay over time” using AI software with Altec Lansing being its first licensing partner. It will provide players with personalised hints to help them keep up with the current gaming landscape that is becoming increasingly fast-paced and competitive.
“Harnessing the power of AI, supercomputers and our exceptional code-writing team, we are aiming to eclipse the original GameShark’s triumphs tenfold and redefine the gaming landscape on a global scale,” said Todd Hays, the founder of Ai Shark. “This marks the start of a series of AI Gaming technology partnerships that will enhance the gaming ecosystem for players worldwide.”
The release date for AI Shark is now stated to be “in time for the holiday season 2024.” As for the Nintendo Switch 2, keep your eyes peeled for official announcements from Nintendo.
