At a time when Instagram’s creator economy is boosting exponentially, it has become pertinent to curate well-crafted posts for maximum reach. After all, it’s not easy to lure more than two billion active users on the platform. Especially for businesses and creators, knowing who exactly shared or interacted with their Instagram posts is a nice way to gauge similar audiences. But, is there a way to actually see who shared your Instagram posts? Find out in our guide below.
While Instagram doesn’t officially allow anyone to view WHO exactly shared your posts, you can still see the number of people who reshared or saved your posts – provided you have an Instagram business or creator profile. As we all know, there are two ways of sharing posts on Instagram: stories shares and shares via DMs. While finding out who shared your Instagram posts via DMs is impossible, thanks to the platform’s privacy policy, you can still view posts shared via stories. Keep reading to know more.
Here’s how to see who shared your Instagram posts
Turn your account into a business/ creator account
Private accounts don’t have access to Instagram data or statistics like business/ creator accounts do. Here’s how to create a business/ creator profile on Instagram:
- Head to your Instagram profile and open settings.
- Scroll down and select ‘Account type and tools’.
- From here, you can either convert your existing account into a professional account by choosing the ‘Switch to professional account’ option or create a separate professional account by choosing the ‘Add new professional account’ option.
Please note that you can’t switch a business account to private, which renders the whole point of the account useless. After creating a professional account, you’ll now be able to leverage Instagram insights for all your posts
How to view Instagram insights for your profile and posts
Once you’ve set up a public business or creator account, you can view insights to get your engagement metrics. A part of these metrics is also being able to view how many times your post has been reshared. To view insights on a particular Instagram post on your feed, select the ‘view insights’ button appearing at the bottom left of that post. Now, you’ll see an interface with all Instagram insights.
How to see who shared your Instagram posts via stories
Moreover, you can also see story reshares to see who shared your Instagram post in the last 24 hours. Select a post and open the three-dot menu appearing at the top right. Select the ‘view story reshares’ option and it’ll show you all the users who have shared the post from your Instagram profile in the last 24 hours.
The only catch in this method is that you’ll only be able to see the story re-shares for 24 hours. After 24 hours, the story disappears and so does your chance to see who shared it. Moreover, if someone with a private account (who you don’t follow) shares your post, you won’t know that either.
Hope this guide helps you discover who shared your Instagram posts.
