Recaro Automotive GmbH an BBS have just announced they are going under.
One of the most iconic seat makers, making seats for race cars, boats, airplanes, stadiums, and even strollers, Recaro revealed that rising costs and a the loss of major contracts has led to them unable to survive in the current economical climate.

Filling for insolvency, Recaro will complete all of its current orders, as well as its commitments to wages and salaries. This insolvency currently only impacts the automotive division, leaving other areas of the business safe, but the news came as a shock to its 215 employees of Recaro Automotive GmbH in Kirchheim, Germany. Anyone who has been into the 2000s car scene will definitely be sad to learn this news as Recaro was right there with the entire modding and import community, often seen as the OEM race seat for Honda Type Rs.
On top of Recaro’s financial issues, another household name has filled for insolvency. BBS, the famous aftermarket wheel manufacturer, has, for the fifth time, found itself in financial straits. While the Fichtenberg-based HQ figures it out, BBS Japan and USA have both clarified to customers that they are unaffected.
BBS *Cast* wheels in Germany has filed for insolvency.
NOT BBS *Forged* wheels in Japan who supply F1 and other Motorsports.
Important distinction but coming so soon after the private equity owned Recaro Automotive (but not the rest of Recaro) it’s still a sad day. pic.twitter.com/MPkg40VDz2
