With a Michelin star under her belt since 2018, it can be said that Jay Fai is a bit of a celebrity herself. Let’s see all the international visitors who have been to Jay Fai, and who else we think should also give her a visit.
Located on Mahachai Road, when you see the long line up front, you know you’re at Jay Fai. Supinya Junsuta, more commonly known as Jay Fai, is the mastermind behind all the iconic dishes the outlet has to offer. Her signature goggles have become as famed as her golden-brown crab omelette, setting a fashion statement as she stands in front of a coal-fired stove glistening with dancing flames. She also found herself on the Michelin Guide, Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, Netflix, and more, making her a destination for international visitors. Should visit Jay Fai: Jamie Oliver, so he can finally cook Thai food correctly
English celebrity chef, restaurateur, and cookbook author Jamie Oliver has been in this business for quite some time, but still gets into controversies with his Asian cooking that sounds about white. Jamie made a veggie pad thai with egg and mashed tofu, egg fried rice with chili jam and olive oil — the classic Thai ingredients we know and love. Maybe Jay Fai could teach him a thing or two about Thai cooking.
Should visit Jay Fai: Taylor Swift, but let’s not get our hopes up
Stars flock together, and Taylor Swift at Jay Fai would break the internet. If she’s ever in Thailand for a concert, she should go down to Mahachai road and sample some Thai food from the one and only. Although, it’s a very big “if” — let us be for real.
Should visit Jay Fai: Philomena Cunk, for a season of Cunk on Bangkok
Our favourite investigative reporter Philomena Cunk will certainly have a field day in Bangkok, with our fun and not-at-all-confusing city planning and the rush hour traffic we can’t get enough of. Imagine her dining at Jay Fai and seeing “drunken noodles” and trying out dry congee for the first time. We’d pay to see that.
Should visit Jay Fai: The British population
The British tried to conquer the world in the 19th century and early 20th century, controlled a huge portion of the world’s spice trade, and never bothered to use any of them in their cuisine. Although a flick of spice from Jay Fai might cause them to experience anaphylactic shock, we urge the population to try her dishes that are so good you will order seconds.
