Hongkongers love travelling to Japan, so it’s time to add this new destination to upcoming plans. Greater Bay Airlines (GBA) will launch direct flights to Yonago in Tottori Prefecture starting October 27.
The expansion serves as the air carrier’s third flight service to Japan following Tokyo and Osaka. At the moment, GBA is only offering charter flights to this route during the summer holiday.

The new service will be available three times a week between Hong Kong and Yanago (Yonago Kitaro Airport). Flights will depart from Hong Kong on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Return flights from Yonago will operate on the same days. GBA will be the only local carrier to offer flights to the city as Hongkongers look for lesser-known destinations in Japan.
Currently, GBA offers flights between Hong Kong and Bangkok, Taipei, Seoul, Tokyo, Osaka, Manila, and Haikou. Visit the official website to book a trip now.

A lesser-known city filled with charm, history, and natural wonders
Yonago is a city in the western part of Tottori Prefecture in Japan. It also serves as the prefecture’s central transport hub, being accessible by road, land, and sea. A well-preserved historical town, it boasts stunning natural sceneries such as Tottori Sand Dunes and Mount Daisan. In particular, Mount Daisan is known as ‘mini Fuji’ due to its uncanny resemblance to Mount Fuji.
Travellers can opt to stay at popular hot spring resorts like Kaike Onsen which offers a beautiful view of the Sea of Japan. The resort is a pioneer of thalassotherapy, which comes from the Greek words ‘thalasso’ (sea) and ‘therapia’ (treatment). Its baths are believed to be very beneficial for health-related concerns. Geeks can head over to Mizuki Shigeru Road where 170 bronze statues of his manga characters are on display along the 800-metre arcade.
