Love Next Door K-drama: Trailer, cast, release date, plot, and filming locations

Love Next Door stars Jung So-min as Bae Seok-ryu, a successful product manager in an American conglomerate and Jung Hae-in as Choi Seung-hyo, a successful architect and CEO, as the lead romantic pair. Other cast members include Kim Ji-eun, Yun Ji-on, Park Ji-young, Jo Han-chul, Jang Young-nam and Lee Seung-jun. You can stream the show on Netflix, with new episodes released every Saturday and Sunday until October 6, 2024.

The show starts with Seok-ryu secretly back in South Korea, hiding from her family and looking for a fresh start a month before she is meant to get married. She crosses paths with Seung-hyo, her childhood frenemy, with whom she had been in a heated competition because of their mothers. As Seok-ryu attempts a fresh start, she finds comfort with Seung-hyo, and their antagonistic relationship brings them closer.

Exploring South Korea through the filming locations of Love Next Door K-drama

The show takes place in the fictional neighbourhood of Hyereung-dong in Seoul but was filmed in real-life locations across South Korea. Most of the show was filmed in cities like Seoul, Incheon, Cheonan, Daejeon and Goyang. Incheon International Airport is the gateway to Seoul and Incheon, whereas Gimpo International Airport is the closest to Goyang. Daegu International Airport is the nearest to Daejeon and Cheongju International Airport is the gateway to Cheonan.

Ihwa Mural Village, Seoul

This real restaurant becomes Ppuri Korean Snack in Love Next Door, the establishment run by Seok-ryu’s parents.

Cheongun Park, Seoul

This playground in Seoul became the location of the show’s filming; it is portrayed as the childhood playground where Seok-ryu would go alone and cry as a child. Later, Seung-hyo shows up to comfort, and they go up to the jungle gym together.

How to reach: Gyeongbokgung Station on Line 3 in Seoul is the way to Cheongun Park.

NGT Building, Seoul

The headquarters of the food company Natural Good Things is portrayed as Atelier In, the architecture firm the male lead manages.

Bukchon Hanok Village, an Instagram-favourite neighbourhood, has the Wangjjanggu restaurant where Seok-ryu and her best friend Jung Mo-eum, played by Kim Ji-eun, catch up after the female protagonist secretly comes back to South Korea. This is a tteokbokki restaurant where you can enjoy this Korean delicacy.

A Twosome Place, Incheon

This premium dessert cafe franchise is open across many places in South Korea, and the Songdo Central Park branch is one of the Love Next Door K-drama’s filming locations. Seung-hyo and Seok-ryu meet someone who ends up offering her several jobs in reputed organisations.

How to reach: Technopark Station on Line 1 is the closest to this branch of A Twosome Place in Incheon.

Yunboseon-gil, Seoul

This alleyway is a K-drama favourite, also having featured as the filming location for Guardian: The Lonely and Great God. The grey and dark brown brick stone road is near the Andong Presbyterian Church. While watching Love Next Door, you can recognise this street when Seung-hyo meets Seok-ryu on his way to the office.

How to reach: Anguk Station on Line 3 in Seoul is the closest to Yunboseon-gil.

Gamgodang-gil, Seoul

Another picturesque alleyway featured as a Love Next Door K-drama’s filming location is Gamgodang-gil. This street has also been featured in Guardian: The Lonely and Great God. During the flashback sequence, we see the lead pair as children, running along this street and holding hands. The street is lined with a blend of modern and traditional Korean houses, famous for its beauty.

7-Eleven, Goyang

The popular convenience store chain also makes an appearance in Love Next Door! The store is known for providing all kinds of goods, and the Daehwa Saemal Park branch is used as a shooting location. Jung Mo-eun, played by Kim Ji-eun, and Kang Dan-ho, portrayed by Yun Ji-on, accidentally meet here and fight over a drink; eventually, Seung-hyo and Seok-ryu join them.
