Look to the western sky: Starbucks is dropping ‘Wicked’ merch this November

Follow the Yellow Brick Road to a Starbucks nearby because they’re releasing limited edition Wicked merch.

If you’re a theatre nerd then you’ve been anxiously waiting with bated breath for the Wicked movie (the first part at least) to be released. Thankfully, there’s not much time left to wait as the movie is set to be released on November 22. But if you can’t wait to, ahem, defy gravity then Starbucks can sate your longing for the wonderful land of Oz. In select countries in Asia Pacific including Thailand, Starbucks is releasing a number of limited edition Wicked merch from green and pink-hued drinkware to Oz-inspired Starbucks Cards.

Starbucks is releasing an array of Wicked-themed stuff in Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, and a couple of other countries. Some countries will be able to enjoy two beverages inspired by the movie’s two protagonists, Galinda (Ariana Grande) and Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo). Unfortunately for us here in Thailand, those beverages won’t be available here.

However, what will be available is the Wicked drinkware collection. A selection of tumblers and gold cups are designed with Elphaba’s signature witchy green and Glinda’s magical pink. One that fans will love will probably be the cold cup emblazoned with “Defying Gravity” across it. Aside from the drinkware, a number of Starbucks Cards with Wicked-inspired designs will also be available. One of the cards can be mistaken for a transit card for the Emerald City (if the Emerald City did have trains and buses) while another has a Grimmerie-inspired casing and can also be a keychain.

The Starbucks Wicked merch is set to drop on November 20 just two days before the film is released in theatres. Availability is limited so if you’re vying any of the items, it’s best to grab them as soon as you possibly can.
