Thirty-four years after the introduction of Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm, the Australian skincare brand Aesop is adding a new Eleos Aromatique Hand Balm to the family.
The new Aesop Eleos Aromatique Hand Balm
The name Eleos is from the Ancient Greek personification of mercy and compassion. It combines hydrating humectants alongside emollient butter and oils. It provides exceptional replenishment for users taking respite in air-conditioned spaces during summer or those with dry skin. The texture is rich but can be rapidly absorbed, leaving a soft and matte finish.
The smell of the hand balm also reflects the Aesop’s mastery in scent-making. A blend of cedar atlas, patchouli, and clove bud essential oils creates the aroma of woody, herbaceous, and spicy notes. The scene makes users feel warmth and reassurance while nurturing their dry hands.
To apply the product, dispense a teaspoon into the palm, and gently massage into clean hands or on tired feet to alleviate the pain after a long day. The balm is available in two sizes: a 75ml wisteria-purple recycled aluminium tube (HKD$250) and a 500ml recycled PET bottle with pump (HKD$780).
History of the brand’s hand balm
More than three decades ago on a wintry day in Melbourne, the founder of Aesop Dennis Paphitis was working as a nail technician for customers waiting for their appointments at her old acquaintance’s hair salon. Dennis was unsatisfied with using off-the-shelf creams and balms while the salon assistants were using custom-made products for the hair. So, she started to combine a handful of vegetable and essential oils into a blend that provided sensorial intrigue and rich replenishment for the skin.
As time passed, the formulation of the original hand balm was refined with the help of a professional chemist. Resulting in our familiar Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm and more formulations.
The Eleos Aromatique Hand Balm is now available online and in select stores.
