The highly-anticipated debut edition of Ultra Hong Kong has officially released its full lineup for September 14 at Central Harbourfront Event Space. This year’s festival marks the end of a six-year hiatus, with the last ULTRA Worldwide event held in Hong Kong as part of “Road to Ultra” in 2018.
The one-day electronic music festival promises to combine breathtaking production with some of the world’s best music acts. The 2024 edition will feature two massive stages, showcasing various top talents across different subgenres. The Main Stage will host the headliners while the RESISTANCE Stage will be reserved for techno and underground house artists.
Tier 1 advance tickets are sold out and Tier 2 presale tickets (GA $1338, PGA $1828) are selling fast. Grab your tickets here and start the countdown! Head below to find out everything you need to go before you go.
The Artists
Headliners this year include legendary Swedish DJ, Alesso, who’s here to fulfill his promise of performing in Hong Kong after missing S2O Songkran Music Festival last year. We also have GRAMMY-nominated act Marshmello, and cake-slinging party starter Steve Aoki. To kick things off there will be additional performances from UMF resident MYKRIS and Colorado-based DJ, Disco Lines who promises fun and vibey tunes to carry us through the end of Summer.
Ultra Hong Kong’s RESISTANCE stage will feature British artist Hot Since 82, melodic techno artist Massano, and Ukrainian star Miss Monique. Head below for the full breakdown.
Marshmello, the enigmatic electronic music producer and DJ, has taken the world by storm with his infectious beats and signature fluffy white marshmallow helmet. This masked maverick burst onto the scene in 2015, captivating audiences with his unique blend of future bass, trap, and pop-infused sounds.
Behind the mask, Marshmello is known as an artist who transcends boundaries, bringing people together through the power of music and positivity. With chart-topping hits like “Happier,” “Alone,” and “Friends,” Marshmello has solidified his place as a global music icon while bridging genres and industries one collaboration at a time.
Steve Aoki, the 2-time Grammy-nominated DJ and producer, is a whirlwind of energy known for his electrifying performances and cake-throwing antics. Since forming the indie label Dim Mak Records in 1996, he’s continued to be a trailblazer in the electronic dance music scene with chart-topping hits like “Turbulence” and “Pursuit of Happiness,”
While already one of the most recognisable DJs in the world, he’s constantly evolving and connecting genres, tapping in from everyone from Rick Rubin and Linkin Park to BTS and Lil Yachty. Beyond his music, Steve is a visionary entrepreneur, label owner, and fashion enthusiast, constantly pushing boundaries and setting trends.
Born and raised in Colorado, Disco Lines has emerged as one of the most exciting new artists in dance music, known for his wildly popular original songs, remixes, and riotous content. He first arrived on the scene with his viral remix of Taylor Swift’s “Love Story,” and would later release a number of breakthrough singles such as “Honey” and “Baby Girl” which blew up on social media. Since then, he’s been constantly on the road playing at colleges, clubs, and festival circuits. Fresh, dynamic, and silly, his sets are bound to be a good time.
A burgeoning melodic techno producer and DJ from Liverpool, combining aggressive sound design with hypnotic grooves and melodies, Massano is a next-generation star who is quickly emerging on the scene. Massano was quickly recognized for his talent, receiving immediate support from BBC Radio 1 and Tomorrowland, among others. 2023 started with Massano ranking as the #3 best-selling Melodic Techno artist over the last 12 months. His smashing success with the Beatport charts and releases on big-time labels like Afterlife and Oddity has only further fueled his fire.
Stage Design
With the iconic Ultra Music “U” logo hanging overhead, the main stage will feature 23 large trapezoids and triangles adorned with LED wall panels that illuminate the night sky, creating a dynamic visual backdrop for the performers. At the heart of the stage lies the DJ Booth which is nestled within a pyramid-shaped, elevated structure. Designed by creative director Richard Milstein, who has delivered stunning visual experiences at Ultra events around the world for the last 14 years, Ultra Hong Kong 2024 promises to be a feast for the eyes.
The RESISTANCE stage is described as a “a portal into another dimension,” designed to deliver an unparalleled auditory experience. Orchestrating a careful balance between light and shadow, the stages often resemble a warehouse, offering a hypnotic and ethereal experience for attendees.
