The news comes after Ye held a listening party turned full-blown concert in Seoul and after he cancelled his sold-out show originally scheduled for Taiwan. In Seoul, the artist performed two and a half hours featuring more than 70 tracks including his classics and greatest hits such as “Runaway” and “Stronger.” Following that viral performance, in which he also called out adidas amidst their ongoing feud and shouted out Drake, fans in Asia are left wanting more.
The last time Ye performed in China was during his “Glow in the Dark” tour in 2008. However, the first time he visited the country stretches back to his childhood when his mother, Donda West worked as a university lecturer at Nanjing University.
Haikou, the city in which Ye and Ty Dolla $ign are set to perform, is situated on the northern coast of Hainan. A port city featuring a mix of Chinese and colonial European architecture, it’s known in the country for its beaches and tropical landscapes.
The concert is set to be held at Haikou Wuyuan River Sports Park (五源河体育场). Tickets to the show are now listed on the Damai app with prices ranging from ¥680 to ¥2000 RMB.
