Jeff Staple Teases His Debut Signature Shoe at ComplexCon

Making a stop at Hong Kong’s first ComplexCon, Jeff Staple opened his own booth to tease his new sneaker, meet fans, and showcase his existing collection and collaborations. Lifestyle Asia got a chance to chat with the designer to get more insight about his new upcoming shoe and his ComplexCon experience.

Jeff Staple, the founder of New York’s avant-garde fashion brand, Staple Pigeon, brought over his Staple booth to ComplexCon and showcased his collection. From his most iconic designs over the last 25 years, to his current Staple Spring Summer 2024 collection, it was all there. Fans even got to see the highly coveted Pigeon Dunks in person at the Staple booth.

Most notably however, Staple wanted to highlight the “Grand 01”. In the past, Staple has collaborated with brands such as Nike, Adidas, Reebok, Puma, the “Grand 01” marks a significant milestone for Jeff as his very first signature shoe. Coming out later in fall of this year, Staple teases the shoe at his Staple booth and is seen wearing the ‘Friends and Family’ Grey edition.

Could you introduce yourself?

Yo, what’s up? Jeff Staple here,  founder of Staple. We’re at ComplexCon Hong Kong, and you’re in my Staple Booth

What has been the highlight for you at ComplexCon?
I mean, so many things. It’s been an amazing weekend. I did an incredible Complex Conversations with Feng Cheng Wang, Jason Mayden and Brendan Dunne. We have this incredible Staple booth where we’re showcasing our history, and dropping our spring collection. We did a collaboration with Coolrain Lee, a collaboration with ROBBi, and a collaboration with DOE Shanghai. 

We also crowned the winner for this contest we’re running to send one lucky kid on an all expense paid trip to New York City to go sneaker shopping with me. So we did a lot this weekend (laughs).

Any booths that stood out to you this year at ComplexCon?

The Futura Knew Stand. Futura laboratories sets up a newsstand and drops a bunch of special merch and collaborations. Always shout out to the OG Futura. 

Lastly, are there any upcoming projects you can share with us that you’re excited about?

For the first time ever, coming out in fall of this year, the first ever Staple shoe. This is not a collaboration. It’s the first time that we’ve created our own sneaker from the ground up. It’s got a custom outsole, it’s got the Staple logo, and as you can see, the toe looks like a pigeon head as well.

We got the white edition, the grey friends and family edition, and the black edition. So this is something that I’m really excited about, because it’s the first time we’re releasing our own sneakers.
