Lifestyle Asia’s Tattoo Talks explores the connection and stories behind people and their tattoos. In our next episode, we have a conversation with Roshan Melwani of Sam’s Tailor, also known as the TikTok Tailor — the man behind the viral breakdown videos of his bespoke suits. As part of our ongoing deep dive behind Roshan’s rise to fame, considering his business has been in operation for over four decades, we learn that for Roshan, his tattoos are all about family.
As Sam’s Tailor is a family business, it only makes sense that Roshan’s tattoos all pay tribute to each of his family members. In his Tattoo Talks, Roshan reveals that it all started with his first child, and in a way evolved from being a significant ritual for each child and then expanded to other members of the family.
Electing for different hand styles with hidden numbers, each tattoo works in the name of his child in the order in which he was blessed with them. He has a trio of tattoos representing his children, then it is all tied in with the name of the woman who gave birth to all of them.
Finally, his father’s name, Manohar is seen on his forearm with two hands that signify his efforts in holding up the family and his hands-on approach to running Sam’s Tailor.
