Here are some of our favourite works from this year’s Art Central

The end of the ninth edition of Art Central draws near and with it comes another fun and successful year of art at Hong Kong’s Central waterfront.

This year, Art Central is expected to see over 40,000 visitors over the five-day fair with 98 galleries showcasing 500 distinguished artists from around the world. Partnering with UOB, IWC, and SoHo House, the fair has a lot of impressive works from galleries like Spain’s VETA and Hong Kong’s Touch Gallery (Touch Gallery had the first sold-out solo show in Art Central with artist Aries Wu), and even fan favourite installations like A Sultry World by Norico Sunayama and Ho Sin Tung’s Shadow Boxing were all worth the wait.

On top of the aforementioned artists, several other names caught our attention, and so we went in for a closer look to meet the galleries representing the works.

Below is a list of some of the artworks we loved, and where to find them on the last day. From the mix-media canvases of Hansaem Kim that tell the story of Dante’s Inferno, to the Captain Tsubasa-referenced work of Nobody Here, a full video walkthrough can be found below:

Takashi Hara at A2Z Gallery – B6
Nobody Here at Square Street Gallery – B1
Hansaem Kim at ThisWeekendRoom – B2
Lee Namlee at An Inc. – D2

This is just a fraction of the great art on display at Art Central. We recommend taking your time to slowly discover some of the amazing talent on display. It might even take you more than one day.
