Affordable Art Fair Hong Kong officially returns to HKCEC from May 16-19 with a total of over 95 galleries.
Themed “I am an art collector,” this year’s event provides first-time art collectors a chance to pick up pieces from some of the most exciting up-and-coming artists from around the world, with all artwork priced under HK$100,000. With Affordable Art Fair celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, we see a number of special activations including Jonathan Jay Lee’s speakeasy bar “Neon,” a Young Talent exhibition space, and various workshops for children aged 4-12 years old.
Below, we’ve picked out five galleries from the event that aren’t to be missed and a comprehensive guide to AAF can be found here.
Grey Walls Gallery
Grey Walls Gallery, founded by Sacha Yasumoto, celebrates the abandoned spaces, the hidden, and the bold. Reconciling the past, present, and future, each featured work explores that which is often left behind. Participating artists include Shan Luk, Michelle Copini, Rachel Smith, Simon Shingleton, and Yasumoto herself, where each artist expands on their own medium. From photography and drawing to ceramic sculptures and paper-cutting, each work has its own story to tell.

Gallery Seek
Established in 2009, Gallery Seek represents artists from multiple disciplinaries and for the better part of the last decade been involved in sharing its artists via art fair and event formats.
While Gallery Seek is located in Ginza, Tokyo, it has shown works in multiple cities around Asia including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia. One of the more recent ventures from Hideki Shiono of Gallery Seek is the creation of ART KNOT, Inc. This branch of Gallery Seek sees a partnership with Kenta Nakajima and Avex as a way to connect art with all aspects of life.
Rifting off the saying “Seek a knot in a bulrush” Gallery Seek looks to ponder and address any problems that can be solved or improved with Art, hence its moniker “Seek a knot with art.” This year, Gallery Seek is bringing artists Ayaka Meda, Mio Okazaki, Takeshi Harada, and Masaaki Hikida, to name a few, to this year’s Affordable Art Fair Hong Kong.
