A K-pop power couple, Red Velvet member Joy and rapper Crush first got together for the duet May Day in 2020. After much speculation by South Korean media outlets, the couple’s relationship was confirmed in August 2021. Crush’s agency P NATION and Joy’s label SM Entertainment released a statement, mentioning that they initially had a “senior-junior relationship, but they recently began dating with good feelings toward each other.”
Soon after, the stars too became vocal about their romance. Taking to his official fan cafe website, via Koreaboo, Crush expressed gratitude to his fans and also reflected on how happy he was with Joy. “The number of days where I am smiling has increased due to the positivity and brightness of that person and my heart has also become healthier,” he wrote.
Addressing his fans and requesting them to deal with the situation kindly, he added, “My heart is heavy thinking about my fans who will be even more taken aback at the sudden news and also perhaps even sad about it.. I’ll be grateful if you can look upon us positively with benevolence.”
Initially, the couple didn’t shy away from being photographed together or sharing photos on their Instagram handles. However, for the most part, they remained low-key to the point where breakup speculations started. In March 2024, fans dug out Crush’s previous Instagram posts only to find that all his pictures with Joy had been deleted.
