What happened in the fourth episode of Only Murders in the Building season 4?
The trio — Oliver (played by Martin Short), Mabel (played by Selena Gomez) and Charles (played by Steve Martin) discover that Sazz had been to a bar for stunt performers on the night she was murdered, so they begin their investigations. With the help of Ben Glenroy’s former stunt double, Glen Stubbins, Charles teams up with Dr. Maggie, the chiropractor in the bar, who reveals to them that Sazz was considering retiring from stunt work. In the meanwhile, the West Tower tenants, who pay Professor M. Dudenoff USD 200 a month to live in his apartment, tell Mabel they never knew Sazz and that the ham radio warning was from Rudy’s paranoid ex-girlfriend.
Charles dresses up as Sazz for her funeral to please her stunt double friends and recalls the dream she had about opening her own training camp for stunt performers. While on their way to visit the site that Sazz had in mind for the camp, the three are confronted by Bev, who has them at gunpoint.
Only Murders in the Building season 4 plot, cast, and other details
The show has warmth, comedy and that cosy feeling only a well-crafted murder mystery series can deliver. Created by Martin and John Hoffman, the series follows three inhabitants of the Arconia, an opulent apartment complex on New York City’s Upper West Side, as they bond over a true crime podcast. When a man dies in Arconia, murder is not something they just listen to in their headphones, it is a chilling reality in their real lives.
The series nicely balances all the death and darkness with the wit and charming eccentricities of the three lead characters. It helps that all three actors are walking charisma bombs that bring a lot of energy to their characters. Season 3 ended with the murder of Charles’ stunt double Sazz by an unknown person in Charles’ apartment. This time, the trio’s quest for truth is deeply personal, as all of them, particularly Charles, are quite fond of Sazz.
Who is behind Only Murders in the Building?
As mentioned above, the show has been created for Hulu by Steve Martin (who is also one of the three main cast members) and John Hoffman. Jamie Babbit, Cherien Dabis, John Hoffman and more have directed the show’s episodes, according to IMDb.
Only Murders in the Building season 4 cast
Besides Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez, the show has a considerable supporting cast. It features cameos and special appearances from other known actors as well.
The supporting cast includes Aaron Dominguez, Amy Ryan, Cara Delevingne, Adina Verson and Michael Cyril Creighton. Additionally, renowned actors, including Meryl Streep, Paul Rudd, Zach Galifianakis, Eva Longoria, Tina Fey and Amy Schumer have made appearances, ranging from supporting roles to guests in the show.
Only Murders in the Building season 4 brief review
Critics were provided only seven episodes of Only Murders in the Building season 4 and thus far, this season continues to serve the show’s signature blend of humour and suspense. The central mystery is only partly overshadowed by all the celebrity cameos, not including Levy, Galifianakis and Longoria. And although they are all quite fun to watch, as they parody their real-life personas, the strength of this show is not in cameos.
The show really only needs the main three, who remain the heart of the series and make it truly one of a kind. Only Murders in the Building is at its very best when it’s just Martin, Short and Gomez being silly together.
