Under Parallel Skies, starring Win Metawin and Janella Salvador, is returning to Hong Kong.
The cross-border movie, directed and written by Sigrid Bernardo, recently premiered at the 17th Asian Film Awards where Metawin took home the award for Rising Star. “This film celebrates cross-cultural collaboration and partnership, and we want to share it with more of our neighbors in Asia,” Richard Juan, executive producer of the film and Chief Executive Officer of 28 Squared Studios, remarked.
After highly-anticipated debuts in both Manila and Bangkok, Under Parallel Skies will return to the city in where it was filmed — primary locations being Peng Chau, Avenue of Stars, Kowloon City, and Tai O — to Hong Kong’s Golden Scene Cinema on May 23.
Commenting on the experience, Salvador expressed her excitement to her fans, “It’s my first international movie and I am very proud to be part of this project and to work with Win of course.” While Metawin remarked at Bangkok’s premiere night gala, “The movie has everything – romance, drama, and comedy. I think you will enjoy this film so please support the film.”
For those curious about the plot, 28 Squared Studios’ synopsis reads:
Under Parallel Skies follows the story of a Thai bachelor named Parin (Metawin) who travels to Hong Kong in search of his missing mother. He encounters a Filipino hotel receptionist named Iris (Salvador) who helps him navigate love, heartbreak, and healing in the foreign city amid their differences in culture and identity.
