Streaming service Max is coming to Hong Kong: Check out the price and features

The streaming service Max, formerly known as HBO Max, is finally going to be available in Hong Kong and other Southeast Asian countries.

Warner Bros. Discovery revealed its launch date for Max in seven new markets in Southeast Asia, including Hong Kong and Taiwan. The streaming giant will bring the best quality entertainment from brands like HBO, Harry Potter, the DC Universe, Cartoon Network, Max Originals and more to Hong Kong for an elevated streaming experience.

Max launches in Hong Kong and other Southeast Asian countries on November 19

Max was originally launched as HBO Max in the US back in 2020. Four years on, it’s since dropped “HBO” from its name and has launched a number of original programming, which include the Elizabeth Olsen miniseries Love & Death, the gripping crime thriller Tokyo Vice, the award-winning post-apocalyptic drama The Last of Us, and many more.

But Max wasn’t available anywhere in Asia. Now that Max is coming to HK and other Southeast Asian countries, that’s set to change.

Since Max is the exclusive streaming home for groundbreaking HBO Originals, you’ll be able to watch a slate of interesting content. This includes Dune: Prophecy, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, IT: Welcome to Derry, the upcoming Harry Potter series and new seasons of House of the Dragon, The White Lotus, and a lot more.

What will the subscription prices for Max be?

Max will offer different subscription plans via max.com, Apple Store, and Google Play Store. A Standard plan costs HKD 78 for one month and HKD 780 for a year. It can stream on two devices at once, has full HD video resolution, and allows 30 downloads to watch on the go.

Meanwhile, the Unlimited plan costs HKD 98 for a month and HKD 980 for a year. Subscribers can use it on four devices at the same time and watch on 4K UHD and Dolby Atmos. Plus, 100 downloads are available to watch on the go.
