From Patek Philippe to Casio, take a look at the exquisite watches in BTS leader RM’s collection

Over the years, pop culture sensations have been synonymous with luxurious lifestyles. From lavish mansions to private jets, these icons own almost every luxury money can afford. Be it Rihanna or Taylor Swift, their riches leave the commoners wide-eyed and open-mouthed.

The latest addition to this list is the K-pop band Bangtan Sonyeondan or BTS. Of late, their popularity in the global pop landscape is unrivalled. Their members — RM, Jin, Suga, Jimin, V, J-Hope and Jungkook — are superstars in their own right. As a matter of fact, BTS is the richest K-pop band.

Whenever we talk of BTS’ opulence, we cannot help but drool over their collection of wrist candies. Following in the footsteps of pop icons like Elton John, each member of the boyband owns remarkable timepieces. According to reports, the estimated worth of the BTS’ overall watch collection stands at a massive USD 1 million! No wonder the hawk-eyed ARMY members take a keen interest in the septet’s ensemble of timepieces.

Popularly known by his stage name RM, Kim Nam-joon is the leader of BTS. The rapper, songwriter and record producer serves as the group’s spokesperson in interviews overseas owing to his fluency in English. Like the rest of his band members, RM, too, has a penchant for luxury timepieces.

Have we piqued your curiosity regarding the Korean rapper’s wrist candies? Well, then sit back and allow us to walk you through some of the most exquisite watches in BTS leader RM’s collection along with their respective price tags.

Price: USD 124,750

Let us kick-start BTS leader RM’s collection of watches with the Patek Philippe Nautilus in his collection. The Nautilus lineup has a rich history — alongside Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak series, the Nautilus is a product of the ‘Quartz Crisis’ in 1969. Both the series were designed by Swiss clockmaker and artist Gérald Genta.

The Nautilus timepiece in RM’s ensemble is made of rose gold with a black-brown dial. In addition to the usual subdials for the seconds chronograph, the watch also offers a Moonphase function. The dial is protected by a scratchproof sapphire crystal.

Instead of a metal bracelet, this model of the Nautilus sports a brown leather strap. The watch is powered by Patek Philippe’s in-house 240 PS IRM C LU calibre. Each winding of the automatic movement offers a power reserve of up to 48 hours. The timepiece is water resistant up to 60 metres.

Price: USD 115,000

Another Patek Philippe watch in RM’s collection that offers the Moonphase function is the Complications. This timepiece is crafted out of white gold and fashions a 41-millimetre dial. The dark grey dial has three small windows displaying the month, day and date. Like most Patek Philippe watches, this one, too, comes with a scratchproof sapphire crystal protecting the dial.

Under the hood, the timepiece is powered by an automatic mechanical movement. Each winding of the movement offers a power reserve of up to 48 hours. The watch comes with a strap made of calfskin. This model is water resistant up to 30 metres. The sleek yet elegant look of the watch is in tandem with RM’s persona on stage.

Price: USD 95,000

One of Patek Philippe’s finest offerings, the Grand Complications model in BTS leader RM’s collection is not just a watch — it is a work of art. The timepiece, made of white gold, embodies the watchmaker’s design aesthetics perfectly.

The champagne-toned 41-millimetre dial has three miniature windows which display the day, month and date, respectively. At the six o’clock mark sits a Moonphase indicator. All the hands and the indexes on the dial carry a photoluminescent coating for better visibility in the dark. The dial is protected by a scratchproof sapphire crystal.

This timepiece houses the 324 S Q caliber which is studded with 29 jewels. Each winding of the mechanical movement provides a power backup of 45 hours. The watch comes with a brown-scaled alligator-skin strap and is water-resistant up to 30 metres.

Patek Philippe Aquanaut

Price: USD 55,480

The Aquanaut lineup is a relatively young offering from Patek Philippe. This collection made its debut in 1997 with the reference 5060 model. Many in the world of horology dubbed the series as a little brother to the Nautilus lineup.

The Aquanaut 5168G in BTS leader RM’s collection of watches was introduced by the watchmaker at Baselworld 2019. The 42-millimetre case of the watch is crafted out of white gold. An unusual khaki green colour can be seen on the dial and the rubber strap of the timepiece.

Unlike other Patek Philippe watches, this Aquanaut variant sports a clean dial with just a tiny date window. The watchmaker has provided the brand’s signature scratchproof sapphire crystal protection to the dial. In terms of durability, the watch is water resistant up to 100 metres.

This Aquanaut model is powered by Patek Philippe’s in-house self-winding 324 S C calibre. Each winding of the mechanical movement provides the watch with a power backup of up to 45 hours.

Casio G-Shock

Price: USD 550

Last but not the least in BTS leader RM’s collection of watches is the timeless Casio G-Shock. One of the most popular digital watch designs around the world for many years, this Casio timepiece has gone through several phases of evolution.

The entire body of the watch, along with the bracelet, is made of stainless steel. This model is durable to the core — the watch is resistant to shock and offers water resistance up to 200 metres.

In the modern world, almost every accessory can be connected to your smartphone. This solar-powered Casio watch is no different. It supports wireless linking via Bluetooth. Once paired with your phone, it automatically adjusts the time.

In addition, the timepiece can show you up to five time zones. Like the rest of the digital watches in the market, this one, too, comes with built-in alarm and stopwatch features.
