Independent Watcher has just released a collaborative watch project with Hercules Watches.
Paying homage to Hong Kong, Lion’s Rock specifically, the Hong Kong Edition is available in two movement options and is made from the durable and sought-after material Tantalum.
In a run of just 50 examples, the micro-rotor movement option (designed by Olivier Mory of OM Mechanics and made in Switzerland) still maintains a thin case width but has the versatility of an automatic while the hand-wound movement (made in collaboration with Manufacture Horlogère Vallée de Joux) has the benefit of having a 120 hours (5days) power reserve. Both versions have display backs to show off the decorated bridges that have been engraved to resemble the elevation contours of Lion’s Rock. Each height line is then filled with Superluminova.
To tell the story of Lion’s Rock, chipped carbon has been painted in vibrant hues of blue to reference the rock facade and sky. The yellow second hand is also a direct nod to the sun that’s often seen and photographed in the background of Lion’s Rock. Paired with the dark grey hue of the 40mm Tantalum case, and you’ve got a pretty interesting watch that captures the essence of Hong Kong without being too literal.
The new Hong Kong Limited Edition watch is available for pre-order at 108,000 HKD and can be found over at Independent Watcher, The estimated delivery date is set for August 2024.
