DOE Shanghai is tapping into its roots for its new 10th-anniversary release.
Joining a brand that is close to home, DOE has worked with Shanghai Watch for a special release that pays homage to the A581 watch. Not only is Shanghai Watch one of China’s oldest watch factories, with over 50 years of experience, but it is probably one of the most recognisable names in watchmaking to come out of the country.
This collaboration takes the watch manufacturer’s first model, the A851, and redesigns the dial for a minimal take that references the city. Sized at 34mm, the A851 was originally equipped with Shanghai Watch’s take on the Swiss-AS 1187 movement. This watch follows that similar case diameter, and features the original Shanghai Watch block logo at the 12 o’clock position with DOE’s SH logo at the 6 o’clock position.
This watch sees minor updates like a K1 crystal, DOE branding at the caseback, a frequency of 21,600 bph over the original n 18,000, and 36 hours of power reserve. This watch is not only a celebration of a Chinese watch industry milestone but also a milestone for one of the country’s leading lifestyle brands and boutique concepts. This watch is tied together with the use of a nato strap instead of the customary leather band, giving it more of a casual look for everyday wear.
Those interested can find the watch selling at DOE’s online shop for RMB ¥1,958.
