While big international brands have unveiled intriguing uniforms and kits for the 2024 Paris Olympics, with ASICS designing for Team Australia, Lululemon for Canada, and Le Coq Sportif/Berluti for France, Team Mongolia steals the show with stunning parade uniforms designed by homegrown label Michel & Amazonka.
Based out of the country’s capital of Ulaanbaatar, Michel & Amazonka was founded by sisters Michel, Amazonka, and Munkhjargal Choigaalaa in 2015. The brand is known for weaving Mongolian culture and traditional elements with contemporary silhouettes and cutting across couture and ready-to-wear pieces.
Its Team Mongolia uniforms made for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic games in Paris dress athletes from head to toe. Two styles are created for each gender featuring traditional deels, a long, loose-fitting robe designed for horseback riding, ornate vests adorned with beautiful nature embroidery, cone-shaped hats with 32 stitches symbolizing the unity of the 32 tribes, and Mongolian boots or Gutals constructed with upturned toes. For women, the brand constructs additional accessories including earrings and a handbag.
Look for the uniforms on stage on July 26 at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics at the Seine.
