“Time Capsule: The Breitling Heritage Exhibition,” a showcase of some of the most important timepieces from the watch brand’s 140-year history has landed in Hong Kong as part of a 55-stop world tour spanning North America, Europe Oceania, and Asia (including the Middle East).

Under the tagline “140 Years of Firsts,” Breitling celebrates its impressive legacy while reaffirming its dedication to innovation. Within its industrial loft-inspired retail location in Causeway Bay, the brand puts forth a curation of rare archive pieces alongside new trailblazing pieces as worn by its ambassadors, which include athletes such as Erling Haaland, Kelly Slater, and Chloe Kim as well as cinema royalty such as Brad Pitt, Charlize Theron, and David Wu.
“We’ve launched Time Capsule to honor our heritage and celebrate our breakthroughs,” said Georges Kern, CEO of Breitling. “Each exhibition is a captivating journey that connects our heritage with the present, allowing guests to witness the evolution and lasting spirit of our brand.”
Breitling’s first of firsts include inventing the modern chronograph (a wrist-worn chronograph with a pusher separate from the crown), equipping the first pilot’s watch with a circular side rule with the beloved Navitimer, sending the first Swiss wristwatch to space, and the first dive chronograph underwater.
Other highlights include The Emergency (1995), the first watch to contain a miniature international distress beacon which billionaire explorer Sir Richard Branson claimed had saved him in two sticky situations. Today, Breitling continues to push boundaries with innovations such as the first traceable watch and new movements designed in-house at the Breitling Chonometrie.
The “Time Capsule” exhibition at the Breitling Boutique Causeway Bay store is now open and will run until August 21, 2024. Those who miss it can still catch select pieces on display at Breitling Boutique Shoppes at the Venetian in Macau until September 2, 2024.
