Chopard announces both its newest global ambassador and campaign to usher in the next chapter for its iconic Ice Cube jewellery motif. The star of this campaign and ambassador is none other than Bella Hadid.
Created in 1999 by Co-President and Artistic Director Caroline Scheufele, the Ice Cube design by Chopard utilised the geometric shape and its various facets as a way to play with light and reflections. Rooted in the Bauhaus movement’s principles of being simple and functional, the cube, with its six square faces and twelve edges, is a form found in modern architecture and is honoured not only by its symmetry but its robustness and enduring presence.
Chopard’s Ice Cube adopts the minimal shape of the cube and reimagines it for jewellery using House techniques and technology that are most noticeable on the facetted symmetrical edges. Perfect milling is achieved using a technique that was developed over six years to deliver taut lines on minute surfaces using diamond-equipped tools. All mirror-polished surfaces are done by hand along with the diamond paving and gem setting.
In Chopard’s new Sculpted by Light campaign starring Bella Hadid, the Chopard Ice Cube collection is on full display and is accented by light and shadow. Both Hadid’s beauty and the jewelry’s radiance shine through the layers of darkness atop a backdrop of a night skyline — playing into the geometric shapes and structure of skyscrapers and the office lights that emit through the rectangular windows. Shot by British fashion photographer and director Charlotte Wales, the two icons are captured displaying the ery essence of Ice Cube design. Without shadow, there is no light: such is the common thread running through the images in this Sculpted by Light campaign.
Aligned with Chopard’s jewellery division, the Ice Cube collection uses only precious metals sourced from ethical suppliers, part of the Maison’s push for sustainable and responsible practices.
