Could Patek Philippe be releasing a new watch model called the Cubitus?
Leaks have surfaced of a new square Nautilus-esque dial in green along with a new Fortune magazine Oct/Nov 2024 issue print ad showing a new Cubitus collection. If true, this would be that a new square case design is on the way in both a time-only and a version with a big date combined with a moon phase, day, and small seconds sandwiched at the bottom of the dial.
The watch appears to be a more angular take on the Nautilus with familiar design cues like horizontal striping and “ears” at the sides of the case. While it has not officially been confirmed, sources indicate that this watch will be unveiled in Munich on Thursday, October 17. This watch does align with Patek Philippe CEO, Thierry Stern’s vision of reaching a new generation of Patek heirloom holders with a watch priced around the $35,000 range.
So far, the only full look at the watch shows the Cubitus paired with a tonal fabric strap with contrast stitching with a centre-link fixture reminiscent of the 5980 and 5726. It will be interesting to see what it looks like on a full stainless steel bracelet.
If true, this will be Patek Philippe’s first new collection since 1997.
