The new Patek Philippe Cubitus collection has arrived

The new Patek Philippe Cubitus has been officially unveiled.

While thought to be a rumour early on with a leaked ad campaign on Fortune Magazine, the collection was officially debuted to a select crowd in Munich, Germany on October 17.

Thierry Stern, President of the Patek Philippe, commented on the introduction with, “Well, since a long time, I really always wanted to have a square watch in the collection. It’s not easy, as 85% of the watches around the world are round. And, since I was quite young, I always challenged myself to say, ‘I need to have also a beautiful square watch in the collection.’ So that’s how we started, actually, simply like that, to say, ‘We have to find something new, something great,’ – and it took a long time, to be frank, to find such a beautiful piece, because there were many different ways that I could start the design with such a watch. But in my mind, it has to be a thin watch. It has also to be a watch with a new movement. And it has also to be a watch that has really all the DNA of Patek Philippe inside.”

The Patek Philippe Cubitus is the first all-new collection with an all-new complication in 25 years and is launched in a trio that sees the Platinum Instantaneous Grand Date/Day/Moon in (Ref. 5822P-001), Two-Tone Rose Gold time only (Ref. 5821/1AR-001), and Sunburst Olive Green Dial time only (Ref. 5821/1A-001).

Sized at a generous 45mm in case size, the Cubitus maintains a slim profile with both time-only variants powered by a 26-330 S C movement that sees 35 hours of power reserve (this could be a bit low for some) while the more complicated platinum version is fitted with a micro-rotor 240 PS CI J LU that sees 38 hours of power reserve.

For pricing, the Olive Green dial version will come in at 318,000 HKD, while the two-tone and Grand Date/Day/Moon are priced at 472,400 HKD and 681,400 HKD, respectively.
